Enrich your child’s world through performing arts! Whether your child dreams of being in the spotlight, or holding the spotlight, Florida Repertory Theatre’s education program has a kaleidoscope of options for children of all ages.
- Master Classes pair students with professionals in the areas of acting, audition prep, dance, voiceover artistry, fight choreography, and more. Coming up in March 2024: Behind the “Scenes” Creative Writing Workshop for ages 11-13
- Theatre Conservatory provides young artists with an introduction to the professional theatrical process culminating with public performances. In Spring 2024, Theatre Conservatory will present Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” – Broadway Version. Auditions will be held in March; public performances in May 2024.
- Florida Rep’s Junior Theatre Tech program offers students behind-the-scenes instruction on stage management, lighting, sound, set design, props, costuming, and stage makeup. This spring, the Theatre Tech program takes place in March and parallels Theatre Conservatory allowing students to help manage stagecraft for “Beauty and the Beast.”
- Summer Musical Intensive Camps centered around Broadway Jr. musicals are open to all skill levels ages 9 - 18. In 2024, musical titles include: “Seussical, Jr.,” Disney’s “Aladdin, Jr.,” “Anastasia” - The Musical, Youth Edition, and Disney’s “The Lion King, Jr.” Camps culminate with public performances complete with sets, props, costumes, lighting, and sound.
- Camp Mini-Star programs for ages 6 – 8. In summer 2024, participants will play and explore music, creative movement, theatre games, and arts and crafts inspired by Disney’s “The Lion King, Jr.”
Florida Rep also strives to make professional live theatre accessible to all students and schools throughout Lee, Charlotte, and Collier counties (and beyond) through its Theatre for Young Audience series. Programs are presented in schools and also on-site at Florida Rep’s Historic Arcade Theatre. Public presentations of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” and “The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs” are planned in April 2024.
Florida Repertory Theatre’s education program is dedicated to enriching the lives of young people and families throughout Southwest Florida with exceptional theatre experiences; nurturing an appreciation for theatre in our students, audience, and community; educating and engaging young people, new artists, and adults with the high standards of performing arts training including classes, internships, and volunteer opportunities; advocating for the arts and making them accessible to all; creating lasting relationships with community partners and artists; investing new efforts to expand and improve upon existing programming; inspiring greatness in a future generation of artists and art patrons.
